Hostrocket.com is one of many web hosting companies that provide shared hosting for those on a budget. Hostrocket hosting also offers reseller and dedicated web hosting.  A Hostrocket review will help you find a promotional code or Hostrocket coupon on different websites, but with their prices starting at about five dollars a month, they are already pretty low.  They have been around since 1999, so they have had their share of growth spurts and the problems that go with them.  However, they do seem stable and genuinely committed to their data center in upstate New York.  Most seasoned webmasters will agree that a while an in-house data center has its own shortcomings, it can be better than dealing with a company who out-sources this crucial part of web hosting.  

Hostrocket is different in the fact that they promote all of their hosting packages equally.  Other discount companies tend to lure potential customers in with low rates only to withhold the fact that they really spend more time with the people who buy higher end packages.  The way Hostrocket promotes itself is really pretty straightforward in the fact that you get what you pay for.  They may have a promotional code on all of the coupon websites, but once you get to their home page they are pretty good about recommending the right package and not just the cheapest one.  This way there aren’t any surprises once you are three months into your contract.

Since Hostrocket.com is more committed than other companies, they offer shared hosting at a lower price, but their really interesting packages are their reseller hosting and dedicated web hosting services.  Reseller web hosting allows advanced webmasters to piggy back on the hosting server and sell the space as their own to others interested in having a website.  This is accomplished at Hostrocket through their Rocket Orbit packages and mainly lets resellers promote their own packages that have the same features as Hostrocket shared hosting.  Depending on which Orbit package you sign up for, you can acquire different amounts of disk space, and bandwidth to resell to your own clients.  Features you can offer to clients include unlimited domains, sub-domains, databases, E-mail forwarding, E-mail aliases, auto-responders, email accounts, mailing lists, and FTP accounts.  The advanced control panel allows access to CGI-bin support, PHP 4.4 with Zend optimizer, MySQL 4.1, Perl 5.8.7, SSH access, Cron abilities, FrontPage extensions, Curl, GD v.2.028 , Image Magick, AwStats , Webelizer stats, Analog stats, and POP/IMAP/SMTP support.

Dedicated web hosting is fairly substantial because Hostrocket’s data center is consistent with delivering a 99.5% uptime.  This places more pressure on the customer service department to deliver 24/7 individual attention, but they do seem to resolve problems fairly quickly.  With any bad reviews that they get, it looks more like the webmaster didn’t plan ahead or took on too many sites and blamed Hostrocket for their own mistakes. That sounds harsh, but at a certain point you can only expect so much from any one hosting company.  Webmasters who want a dedicated server can choose between AMD and Intel server options.  Each one has their own advantages and both are protected by Fraud Guardian.

Hostrocket also has web design services if needed, and they seem reasonably priced.  Hostrocket is probably better suited for someone who is more serious about dedicated web hosting and wants to pay a bit more for a dedicated server.  The shared server packages are really more for personal and other low traffic sites.  Shared hosting still offers good value for someone who doesn’t require high maintenance, but like most top ten hosting companies, Hostrocket.com looks like it reserves a lot of its resources for higher paying customers.
